Rain Gardens
Building a brand new campus from the ground up isn't easy, so students pitched in and helped install the school's rain garden. They took care in planting native vegetation that can thrive in a wet environment.
Rain gardens are an inexpensive way of avoiding damaging stormwater runoff in an urban setting. Benefits of having a rain garden include:
- removing standing water which reduces the presence of mosquitoes
- creates an outdoor learning space
- reduces the chance of flooding
- serves as a habitat for wildlife
- removes pollutants from water
